Looking ahead the weight of the world was on my shoulders, or at least I felt that way. I found myself at a crossroads. The decision to Go back to school wasn't hard but which direction was I going to choose?
1 Corinthians 15: 58 With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2015:57-58
Know that what ever I chose was going to take a tremoudous amout of dedication, perciverance and sacrafice, I chose Interior Design. It fit my shape! This profession would allow me to demonstrate the gifts God gave me and share with those the passion I had for creating beautiful enviornments that would feed their souls.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+3%3A5-6&version=ESV
Well it's obvious! I heard the word but didn't adhere to the word. I found myself tied up in knots, tangled up in the directions others wanted for my life and tired of making the wrong decisions. It was time to take back my life by owning the decisions I made for it by trusting that God was going to make my pathway straight.
Life Changing Questions I Asked Myself
"What should I do with the rest of the life God gave me"?
I felt like this was a new beginning and the beautiful thing is, God gives us a choice. I didn't want to make quick short term decisions about what I was going to do. I wanted to do something I loved. I searched my heart and asked myself Who I Was?, What did I love to do? How could I make a living at it? Circumstances at the time would play a factor in my decision. Depending on the profession I chose would determine if my husband would support us financially or not. I new whatever I choose I would have to love and be excited about doing it. I would have to feel the burning passion to stick with it. It was important to me that I fulfill my life's purpose by using the gifts God gave me .
Who Am I? is an age old question
Answering it honestly helped me ReVeal my gifts while guiding my pathway to becoming an entrepreneur.
I found myself in darkness, experiencing doubt, despair and disappointments. A dead end job, rocky marriage and disillusioned about the direction and purpose I was suppose to take in my life.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.'” Jeremiah 29:11-13 www.biblegateway.com/blog/2013/05/five-bible-passages-to-read-when-youre-doubting-god-2/
Making decisions that would shape the rest of my life wasn't easy. Like you, I've always felt God had a higher calling and purpose for my life. The struggle is real however! There were times when I didn't want to get out of bed or get dressed or even talk to anyone. That was kind of difficult though, my girls at the time were only 11, 7 & 5. They have always been my motivating factor so I had to keep pressing on to provide and be an example for them. I spent many months praying asking God what his will was for my life. The decisions I would make were going to affect the rest of our lives.
Gods plan is far better than my could ever be.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20 www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+18%3A20&version=KJV
S.H.A.P.E. = Spiritual Gifts Heart Abilities Personality Experiences
My morning meditations are a time to reflect give thanks and listen and talk to God. I read my bible (sometimes) ,listen to Rick Warrens Daily Devotional series and walk (sometimes). Almost 2 years ago, the spirit lead me to teach from this particular series, S.H.A.P.E. Finding and Fulfilling Your Unique Purpose by Erik Rees
God's timing is never wrong. I've had the S.H.A.P.E. study guide and DVD sitting on my book shelf waiting for a time such as this. What I know about myself is that I am an Experiential learner meaning "Hands On." and I'm being lead to teach this series the same way, "Hands On".
To reveal something means that at one point it was covered up.

My journey of becoming an Entrepreneur was set in motion long before I knew I would become one.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day. Psalms 139: 13-16 (MSG) www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=psalms+139%3A+13-16&version=MSG
Uncovering My Gifts....
Learning about myself, discovering and utilizing my spiritual gifts is one of the most fulfilling and exciting adventures me and God have had together. This doesn't mean it has been easy. You've heard of growing pains right?Well there are a lot of them, however; going through life's pains are apart of the process. The uncertainty, discomfort, doubt and disappointments are enough to make anyone think twice. Often times we don't want to go through the pain, give up and quit before our gifts are fully developed. What I've come to understand are that my God given gifts are woven together with my experiences and are a key factor for the direction of my Entrepreneurial journey. A large part of the answer to the question, "What should I do with the life God gave me"? Is found through Self- Discovery.
The Gift of Exhortation is one of my recent gifts I have come to understand. It was pointed out to me by a group of women in a Art For Healing class I took over two years ago. I would love to share my process of how this gift was Identified, Studied and Exercised for the purpose for which it was given to me.
Step 1 - Identified
Pointed out by others. This is a great thing, that means I was exercising my Gift. Whether or not I realized or understood it, I was demonstrating it and sharing it with others.
Step 2 - Study/Research
I was excited and wanted to know everything about this new gift that was unveiling before me. What did the Bible say about the gift of Exhortation? The scripture that really spoke to me was, Romans 12:8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. I also looked it up in the dictionary to get a clear definition of the word. It means to uplift and motivate others as well as challenge and rebuke them in order to foster spiritual growth and action, encouraging and urging someone to do something or take action.
Scripture: Romans 12:8 (ESV), Titus 1:9 (ESV), Titus 2:11–15 (ESV), 2 Timothy 4:2 (ESV),
Step 3 - Exercising My Gift
Extorting or Encouraging comes very naturally to me. I have a heart for helping others develop their gifts, talents and abilities. To see others live a life of joy and fulfillment doing what they were purposed to do. This is what I was born to do, remember it was always there. Now I understand it and see Gods power in it and how it fits in the body of Christ.
Question: Do you love what you do? Is it fulfilling?
Through out the years, I have been asked by many about how I do business. I'm not much of a writer nor did I ever see myself as a "BLOGGER". However, it is my tool of choice to tell My Story and invite interactive conversations from those who will read it.
Q: Why start writing a blog now?
A: Turning 50, Celebrating 10 years in business and becoming a GRANDMOTHER, has left me with this overwhelming feeling to share my story. The joys, struggles, pains and process of being an Entrepreneur. I also hope to encouraged, uplift and inspire others who seek to do the same.
